This War Of Mine is a game you won’t forget. The developer, 11bitstudios, actually doesn’t really like to call This War Of Mine a game, because games usually are meant to be fun – and that’s not quite the case here. You get to experience war from a different angle than what you’re used to: You aren’t a soldier, you are a mere civilian, trying to survive in a city that is besieged and about to collapse. Clean water, food, medical supplies – things that we take for granted are suddenly so scarce that you will have to make some very tough decisions while trying to obtain these resources. Not to mention that you have to constantly watch your back. You never know whether any person that you meet along the way is going to be friendly or not – these people are struggling to survive as well, after all.

If all of this sounds very bleak to you, than you have a good a idea of what to expect from This War Of Mine. After all, it was the developer’s intention to make you really reflect upon the terrible situations people will have to face during times of war. The game was released last year for pc and is currently being ported to iOS. A release date is not yet announced, so keep an eye on upcoming news!

Oh yeah, Minigore is back. Well, almost! The developer has released a brand new trailer showing off some glorious footage of a zombie slaying Santa! Yes you heard that right – apparently, our beloved Santa is now in the zombie killing business. When the original Minigore was released and the App Store wasn’t yet filled with tons and tons of games, it was one of the most outstanding titles for the iPhone and, in my opinion, still is one of the coolest dual-stick shooters around! According to Mountain Sheep, the developer, Minigore 2 is almost done, so I’m definitely looking forward to slaying those zombie hordes myself in the foreseeable future!

Listen up guys, with Real Racing 2 and Dead Space HD two of the most awesome games on the App Store are currently on sale! Dead Space HD dropped from $9.99 to $1.99 and Real Racing 2 dropped from $4.99 to $0.99. Both games are an incredible bargain at their current price tags. Heck, I even think they offer great value when they are not up for sale! I totally loved Dead Space in my review so go check it out if you are still in doubt! Also, have look at the trailers:

Dead Space is only on sale for the iPad, while the iPhone version remains at $6.99. With Real Racing 2, it’s the other way around: The price for the iPhone version is lowered to $0.99, whereas the iPad version will still set you back $6.99. Both games offer some impressive graphics and helped push what we thought was technically possible on the iOS platform to new heights. Therefore, I can only repeat myself: If you own either an iPhone or iPad and you’re into games (which you probably are, why on earth would you end up on TapArena otherwise?!) you should totally play those games!

When it comes to visual appeal, the dudes at MadFinger Games sure know how to please us. The creators of Shadowgun are about to release a zombie FPS on iOS and Android devices in the near future. It’s based on the powerful Unity Engine and a generic “If the world ends, there better be zombies to slay” story. Then again, who on earth cares about the story in a game about zombies? Exactly, no one.

Dead Trigger is scheduled to be released at the end of June. So if this trailer got you interested, you’ll only have to wait a couple of weeks till you can get your mad fingers on that MadFinger Games game. Yeah, I just did that.

If someone asked me right now what game he should get for his iPhone or iPad, having in mind that he loves his Xbox360/PS3, I wouldn’t even have to think for a second before recommending Dead Space. Not only because he will most likely be familiar with the franchise, but because it’s one of the most outstanding titles on the App Store right now. It really is that good.

Because of its great visuals, immediately after Dead Space was announced a lot of people started wondering whether you will have full control over the character’s movement, or if it would be an on-rail shooter. After EA dropped the bomb that players will be in full control, iOS gamers got very excited to get their hands on the 3rd person shooter. A lot of people loved the original Dead Space back in 2008 and Dead Space for iOS translates almost all gameplay elements to your iPhone and iPad – but with a completely new, stand-alone story that takes place before the events in Dead Space 2. Strategic dismemberment of the disgusting Necromorphs, Stasis, Kinesis, Zero-G, the stomp – it’s all there and it works great. But most importantly, EA succeeded in bringing the tense atmosphere, for which the Dead Space series is famous for, right into the palm of your hands.

An important aspect of a 3rd person survival horror game are the controls. And EA has definitely put some thought into the control scheme, it works great. The left side of the screen is dedicated to character movement – basically wherever you touch will be the center of an invisible virtual analog stick. You use the right side of the screen to aim and shoot. If you touch it once you will go into aim mode, touch it again and you will shoot. You can change the orientation of your weapon by either a button underneath the weapon, or by quickly tilting your iDevice. And just like the console versions of Dead Space, EA tried to get rid of as much of the HUD as possible – but due to the touchscreen input, they had to include some of it. The health bar and the ammo count remain the same, but you will need the HUD to change weapons or to access the blue beam that guides you through the levels.

The presentation of Dead Space is impressive. While the mere visual quality can’t quite compete with Infinity Blade, you have to have the fact that you’re in control where to go in mind, which needs more resources than an on-rail concept. The game is also one of the few to date that takes advantage of the new iPad 2 hardware. EA has just recently released an update that enhances the visuals even further if played on iPad 2. What also shines is the sound design. The background music combined with some spooky screams every now and then will keep you on your toes. You should definitely play Dead Space with some decent headphones, a lot of effort went into the sound and it contributes a lot to the creepy atmosphere.

If you are into the survival horror genre, Dead Space should be an instant pick-up. It’s definitely not for the faint of heart, but if this review got you even remotely excited, check out the trailer below to get an idea of the atmosphere to see if it’s something for you.
