‪Order & Chaos Online – New Gameplay Trailer‬ For Gameloft’s Upcoming MMORPG

Gameloft has uploaded yet another trailer, this time it’s gameplay footage of its upcoming MMORPG Order & Chaos Online. There’s really not much that we know about this game right now other than it seems highly inspired by Blizzard’s MMORPG heavyweight World of Warcraft. What we have seen so far looks pretty promising and also attracted quite a bit of attention from iOS gamers. This is not surprising, the massive success of games like World of Warcraft show there’s a lot of interest for the genre.

Knowing that it’s going to be a MMO game, one of the questions that come up is how Gameloft wants us to pay for it. Will it be a one time purchase? Will it be free with monthly fees, just like common PC MMORPGs? Maybe freemium? At the moment, only Gameloft also knows the answer. However, Gameloft has a habit of only showing off games that are pretty close to their release, so I bet we will find out pretty soon.

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP For iPhone Out Now – How Well Does It Translate To The Smaller Screen?

sword sworcery micro 1 Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP For iPhone Out Now How Well Does It Translate To The Smaller Screen?

S:S&S EP is now officially and everywhere available for iPhone and iPod Touch. If you only intend to play it on these two devices go and grab the “Micro” [$2.99] titled version. If you happen to have both an iPad and iPhone, you should go with the normal version [$4.99] which just received an update that turned it into a universal app. We had only good words for S:S&S EP in our review for the iPad version, so the question is now “How well does it translate to the significantly smaller screen of an iPhone?”. The answer is quite simple: Excellent.

sword sworcery micro 3 Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP For iPhone Out Now How Well Does It Translate To The Smaller Screen? To begin with, let me say that what you get is the full experience – nothing is cut, everything is exactly the same as in the iPad version. Well, almost – have in mind that the screen aspect ratio is slightly different. It’s also interesting to know that when the development of #Sworcery (as this game is referred to on Twitter) started, the iPad wasn’t even announced yet. It was only later on that the team behind this project decided to release it for iPad first, because you only have to tweak it for 2 devices and 1 screen resolution, compared to all the different iPhone and iPod Touch models out there with retina and non-retina displays. That’s why Superbrothers’ Craig Adams, the one behind the pixel-art of #Sworcery, likes to say it’s finally “coming home”. One thing that I actually prefer on the iPhone is that rotating the screen (which you will have to do quite often) feels a lot more natural on it.

The game even runs on an iPhone 3G and 2nd Gen iPod Touch – although it does a feel a bit laggy on them and loading times can be a bit of drag. At least you will still have Jim Guthrie’s mesmerizing soundtrack in the background. One thing that is even more important when S:S&S EP is played on an iPhone and especially iPod Touch: Don’t forget to bring decent headphones!

Gameloft’s Starfront: Collision – New iPad Gameplay Video, Release “Soon”

Gameloft has uploaded a new gameplay video of their Starcraft inspired RTS Starfront: Collision for iPad. The game is already out for iPhone for quite some time and is a very good take on bringing RTS games to the iOS platform. It comes with three races, each with their own campaign, skirmish and multiplayer (both online and local). Gameloft doesn’t give an exact release date, but they say it’s coming soon – so it should be sage to assuem it will hit the App Store within the next 2 or so weeks. If you’re into RTS games, this is a game you can definitely look forward to.

Remedy Keeps ‘Em Coming – Death Rally Gets 2nd Update

death rally icon Remedy Keeps Em Coming Death Rally Gets 2nd UpdateDeath Rally, only a couple of weeks old, has already received its 2nd update. It features a new arrow-steering control scheme. That’s basically Remedy’s reaction to fan feedback, because quite a lot of them have been asking for an alternative control method – although personally, I really like the virtual analog stick. To round up the new control package, you can now also chose to play with left-handed controls.

Besides the updated controls you will also find new car paint jobs, new challenges and various improvements and bug fixes. We liked Death Rally a lot in our review and Remedy also just recently lowered the price to $2.99 and it’s a universal app – what more can you ask for?

N.O.V.A. Elite Beta Released – On Facebook

nova elite facebook N.O.V.A. Elite Beta Released On Facebook

Yep, you read correctly – Gameloft released N.O.V.A. Elite on Facebook. This move definitely came unexpected. What we did expect however, was that it’s going to be a MMO shooter. And it’s also not a secret that Gameloft is testing the Freemium waters. In order to play it, you will have to install the unity web player, which was a rather small 5,8mb download. It wasn’t working with Google’s Chrome on a Mac, but I had no problems with Safari.

Once I was able to connect to the server I was already in the middle of a 12 player match. And although for a quick browser based shooter-fix Quake Live would be my go-to game, it was actually quite fun. But as the match was over and the next one about to begin, I was already greeted with a message that asked me if I want to purchase the following map, since I don’t have it installed yet. It also features quite some customization options, but you will have to pay for most things like weapons and upgrades with Facebook Credits.

So what’s coming in the future? Well, only Gameloft knows for sure, but since it’s running on unity, it shouldn’t take too much effort to make N.O.V.A. Elite available for iOS devices. Considering the success of MMO shooters like Eliminate and Archetype, it doesn’t seem unrealistic.
