Get Your iPhone And iPad Ready For Nintendo And Microsoft!

The two console giants Microsoft and Nintendo are going to take advantage of your iPhone and iPad pretty soon! While Nintendo is probably only extending its brand new Wii U social network called Mii-verse, Microsoft is taking things a step further with what they call Xbox Smart Glass.

Xbox Smart Glass is going to be an App that basically turns your iOS device into a media-controller for your Xbox. On top of that, it can also function as an additional screen for games – to show you detailed weapon information in a Halo game, for example. It seems to me as if Microsoft has really put a lot of thought into it and the integration into the system is meant to rival Nintendo’s upcoming Wii U controller with similar features.

If you own an Xbox and this makes you feel all excited, you should totally watch the press conference video that demonstrates Xbox Smart Glass in action.

On top of that, you should also watch Nintendo’s video. And it doesn’t even matter whether you’re interested in the Wii U or not. Why? Because this video is so bad that it’s… well… bad. Really bad. Bad in a “Omg I want to look away but I can’t” kinda way.

Zombies are great. Zombies on iOS? Awesome!

When it comes to visual appeal, the dudes at MadFinger Games sure know how to please us. The creators of Shadowgun are about to release a zombie FPS on iOS and Android devices in the near future. It’s based on the powerful Unity Engine and a generic “If the world ends, there better be zombies to slay” story. Then again, who on earth cares about the story in a game about zombies? Exactly, no one.

Dead Trigger is scheduled to be released at the end of June. So if this trailer got you interested, you’ll only have to wait a couple of weeks till you can get your mad fingers on that MadFinger Games game. Yeah, I just did that.

Chaos Rings 2: JRPG Heaven On Your iPhone and iPad

All hail Squeenix! Yes, they’ve done it again – their third installment in the Chaos Rings saga not only holds up to the high standard set by its predecessor, no, it succeeds it! So let me be clear: Do you like JRPGs? Are you into japanese voice overs? Don’t you mind losing yourself in a game for countless hours? Yes? BUY THIS GAME! Simple as that. Forget all those quirky puzzle games and physics based time-wasters that are on the App Store right now (not that I don’t like them as much as the next guy!), because now it’s time for some very old school, very hardcore, super cheesy JRPG grinding on your iOS gadget!

And since the pricing of Chaos Rings 2 has turned into a controversy right now, let me assure you: This game could have been sold as a full-price PS2 title. And I would have bought it. And then played the shit out of it.

Bladeslinger: This Trailer Kicks Some Serious Butt!

Some ugly monster-butt to be precise. And oh boy does it look pretty doing so. Bladeslinger has just been announced by Luma Arcade, a studio which focuses on web and mobile games. The developers describe Bladeslinger as an AAA, fast paced 3rd person action brawler. And thanks to the Unity Engine, Bladeslinger sure looks like one of the most stunning mobile titles I’ve ever seen.

Luma Arcade says that the Bladeslinger story has been something that was on the studios mind for quite some time as a sort of pet project. But because of the detailed, rich and action packed universe, they’ve always expected this was going to become a console title one day. Thanks to the powerful Unity Engine, the team realized it would be possible to develop Bladeslinger for the current mobile generation.

Bladeslinger is set in an alternate future and the narrative follows William Glaston. He just returns to his home town from many years of war and it doesn’t take long until he realizes that there’s some weird stuff going on. So he ends up slaying his way through hordes of monsters to uncover the evil source behind the terror.

The release date is set to be some time in Q4 2011 so go ahead and replay that trailer once more to suck in all the beauty!

UPDATE 04.04.2011: So let’s look at the calendar… humm… Q4 2011 is long gone and yet no sight of Bladeslinger on the AppStore. That’s the bad news. Now onto the good news: Kerosene Games, the publisher of Bladeslinger, was recently talking about the unfortunate delay. The game is now scheduled to be released some time in May on the App Store – and it’s gonna be bigger and better compared to what we’ve seen in the trailer. Kerosene Games encouraged the devs to do some cutting edge stuff compared to current mobile games, like dynamic shadows on everything. That’s stuff that even Infinity Blade 2 doesn’t do. Personally, I’m applauding this kind of commitment. Reminds me of Blizzard’s “when it’s done” attitude. Let’s just cross our fingers that the final product will be worth the wait!

Forever Drive Trailer Looks Freakin’ Awesome!

We’ve been posting stuff about Forever Drive, the top-down racing game that never ends, for quite some time now. And every time Supermono Studios reveals some new details, I’m getting more and more excited about this game. The premise is quite simple: It’s a racing game with 2 distinct sides. On one hand, there’s the racing mode in which you drive against the time on a never-ending racetrack. On the other hand, there’s the editor mode in which every Forever Drive player will be able to create new racetracks and gets the option to share his creation with the whole community.

And these user-generated tracks are, at least in theory, what makes Forever Drive a never-ending, ever changing racing game. Every member of the Forever Drive community can vote whether or not they like each user generated racetrack. This feature will make sure that you’ll only end up racing on the most fun and engaging tracks available. Sounds great to me! The new trailer gives you a very good idea what the game looks like and what to expect from it gameplay wise. I don’t know about you, but I’m really digging the Tron like vibe that Supermono Studios created here. Forever Drive will be out this October for your iPhone and iPad!
